Walsgrave Rides 2019-2020

13th May 2019 by Daniel Westerdale 2 Comments

The Walsgrave Wanderers

Joined the “Walsgrave Wanderers” for a nice ride after work. The guys are helping me up my average speed and also the time to get over those accursed hills! I will keep a log of these rides over a series of weekly posts.

The 2019 Rides

Nhilo and I went out for an after work summer ride.

Ironman UK 2018 One Lap

10th July 2018 by Daniel Westerdale Leave a Comment

This is another decent training ride from Danny and it is one loop of the Ironman, Bolton, 2-loop bike course to take place on Sunday 15/07/2018. On the day, it’s twice around,  plus and out and with the  back leg, makes it 112 miles in total.

The Padgate to Belmont Circuliar ride

15th June 2018 by Daniel Westerdale Leave a Comment

Just under 50 miles with 2500ft of climbing, taking in lots of my morning and afternoon commuting roads. It will be a bit busy till you get out of Leigh, but after that you hit some nice roads round Lostock, Belmont and back through Haigh. It takes in one of the Ironman climbs (but the opposite way round – it’s easier this way!): from Belmont and over Angelzsarke. You then run back through Haigh and mostly downhill after halfway all the way home. You could shorten this by missing out Belmont, but I wouldn’t as it’s lovely up there with amazing views and a good place for a pit stop and a photo. I would allow myself about 2.5 hrs for this, maybe a bit less….So I would say it’s a good 3-3.5 hours ride for you going steady. Supplied ride and description, courtesy of my friend: Danny “Ironman” Bolton.

Ride London 100

5th June 2018 by Daniel Westerdale Leave a Comment

I am fundraising for Dementia UK by 100 miles as part of Ride London 100. This charity is especially close to my heart because dementia is a condition my late father suffered with. To this end, I have a fundraising page on Virgin just giving which you can access by clicking on image below.

I wish to thank all those who generously sponsored me.
