SA CALOBRA TRIP

Getting Ready To RIde

Delayed but not disrupted, it’s time to get ready for a cycling trip to remember.

In September 2020, a group of us will fly out to Port Pollenca, Mallorca. Once, we pick up our full carbon road bikes (Ultegra Groupset); over three days, we will embark on a series of rides including the Sa Colobra climb to Coll dels Reis and the iconic Cap de Formentor lighthouse. Note, this trip was orginally sheduled for the end of April 2020 but we have had push this back due to the devestating impact on tourism and travel, caused by Covid-19. Fingers crossed 🤞.

This is a page dedicate to preparing for this event.

The RIdes

Marcus (KCC) has started mapping out some Mallorca routes for the April 2020 trip, to whet our respective appetites.  All these are subject to change but will give you a flavour of the terrain and distances. On the Sa Calobra ride you’ll see there’s a pretty obvious shorter version (40 miles) if you’re not feeling up to the big climb.

Which Sunday do you prefer?

I am proposing a 50 mile ride around the Yorkshire Wolds on the most popular Sunday.

The Wolds (aka Hills) is home to the “Thixendale” Reverse route where there will be a single Category Y1 climb at about the 34 mile mark.

Other delights will include the market town of Beverley, Sledmere House, The Sykes Memorial and the post glacial landscape of Thixendale.

Note there will be one refreshment stop only in the woods at the 28 mile mark, down the road from Wetwang.
